Dear Customer,
As you all know, costs have continued to rise on all goods and services for almost everything in our country. The Power District is not immune from these rises in costs either. We have been operating on the smallest of margins for some years now and can no longer support the operational costs at our current revenues. We also are facing an increase from our power supplier in October of this year. An adjustment was necessary to maintain operational costs and plan for the future to keep providing reliable, safe, and available electric service. After looking at our financial year end of 2024. We realized that we would no longer be able to support the financial operations that go into running our system. We also wanted to look into options of providing better reliability to the distribution system as well as features within our software suite to allow the customer better access to your energy usage and billing information. We also know that our system is aging. We have some structures still in the system that are more than 50 years old. Over the last two years, we have made upgrades to one of our substations and plan to upgrade another so that we can support some capacity increases to our system. We are going to state making efforts on more pole replacements, conductor upgrades, and line relocation so that we can help reduce the effect of tree incidents we have we power disruptions. A plan was put into place that an adjustment be made at this time to account for the short fall of revenue and to accommodate the future operational needs of the District to provide service to our customers. In October of this year, the board will consider if an additional adjustment is needed as it will pertain to power supply increases. During a public meeting rate adjustment meeting held on April 22, 2025 the board of directors discussed and later approved a rate adjustment. The meter technology fee has been discontinued. The average increase, in all classifications, is about 8%. The rate schedule can be found in the forms menu under rates.
